Zombies are real.

They’re not after human meat though … these zombies are after money.

From what I’ve seen in the corporate world these past few months has been quite revealing — most people hate their jobs, barely see their lovers or children, and constantly bitch about their situation.

To quote Stu in the Hangover, “This whole situation … is completely fucked.”

While there’s nothing wrong with anyone’s choice in lifestyle, unless you are after human meat, I can’t help but wonder why the people unhappy with their lives don’t do something about it.

If they don’t like their job, why don’t they get a different one?

The answer is most likely something along the lines of, “it’s complicated” or “it’s not that easy.”

I think it is easy though — your “situation” in life should never limit your abilities to be happy … and when you’re spending at least 40 hours — more likely 45-50 including your commute and overtime — it’s important you’re happy doing what you do for a living.

As for expressing yourself — when did you stop doing it?

As children we’re all encouraged to express ourselves through grade-school by creating short stories, crafting art projects, and experimenting with music and language … so was it junior high or high school that hammered that out of you?

Why don’t people express themselves?

This is a question I have a lot of passion for, so I’ll be exploring it in future posts — any ideas until then?

So I guess the point of this personal clustercuss of a post is to encourage any creative person currently “stuck” in their work “situation” to wake up and express themselves — either through paint, writing, music, fashion, or what ever means you find yourself attracted to.

Life’s too short to live an unhappy life without any self expression.

If you’re perfectly happy pursuing your dreams in the corporate world, more power to you … just remember that some people value more than money and to give them the same respect you hope they’d treat you with.

A few years back I used to think love was measurable — teenage love was obviously just infatuation, a couple celebrating their 50 year anniversary on the other hand was another story. Then it hit me — love is like life … you’re either alive or not.

It’s that simple — and no, it isn’t complicated.

While we might never fully understand love and why we feel it for one another, it’s pretty easy to grasp — it’s an emotional feeling sparked by another person … a feeling of euphoria.

Find someone who sparks that emotional feeling, congrats, you’re in love.

Today, the 14th, sparks another feeling about love however — a feeling of sadness. That might sound strange on Valentine’s Day, but think about it …

We limit the celebration of love to one day a year … why?

As one of the most cherished — if not the most cherished — things on Earth, love is what we live for. As Love Actually (the movie you should be watching this Valentine’s Day) showed us, love is what life is all about because it makes us happy.

Think about it, most people know what match.com and “it’s complicated” on facebook are all about — love. So why does our society limit the celebration of love to one day?

Let’s celebrate love everyday

Let’s direct our attention away from Saint Valentine for today (“his day”) and look to the mythological god of erotic love and beauty.

Cupid

In Roman mythology, Cupid (Latin cupido, meaning “desire”) is the god of erotic love and beauty. He is also known by another one of his Latin names, Amor (cognate with Kama). He is the son of goddessVenus and god Mercury.

In popular culture Cupid is frequently shown shooting his bow to inspire romantic love, often as an icon of Valentine’s Day. He is now in the current culture the personification of love and courtship in general.

I propose we celebrate Cupid — son of Venus and Mercury — on the 14th. Let’s celebrate the roman myth that embodies love for all it is today, but celebrate our own love everyday.

It’s about 5:00 in the morning here in Los Angeles and I’ve just spent the past few hours perusing the many pages of ProBlogger.net (don’t care much for sleep really) — it’s an awesome blog all about blogging.

I stumbled across one video post in particular in which Darren Rowse asked me what my vice was — or, what keeps me from actually blogging the most, such as blog design, search engine optimization, or in my case, reading about blogging.

He went into detail regarding these vices and reminded me that I need to focus and spend the majority of my time focused on producing either text, audio, or visual content for my blog.

He’s right!

This is an old tale a lot of writers might have read about over at Scribbleplay.com — the tale of the writer that never wrote.

In this case, it’s bloggers that aren’t blogging.

At the end of the video, Darren urges the viewer to get to it and create some content for their blog, so here I am sharing the inspiring post with you … the dedicated reader I can always count on to be up at … now, 5:15 in the morning to read it!

In all seriousness, it’s a good exercise — before you do anything else, go create some content for your blog. Take a look at ProBlogger’s warning!

Today, I’d like to explore the highly anticipated Apple tablet with a street-ally backhand to the anti-apple-no-matter-how-awesome-their-product-is crowd.

iPad

As you can see below, this device seamlessly joins Apple’s line of mobile devices, including the iPhone and MacBook Pro family, due to the genius vision of the world-class design team and sense of simplicity the design strikes with users.

The first thing that struck me about the iPad was the simplicity the device presented — it was both striking and inviting … like C3p0.

Though I was a little surprised by the spacing of the apps on the display due to the sparsity of the home page, I quickly grew fond of it when I watched the iPad video and saw the user flip to additional pages, which revealed 24 apps per page!

It’s sad to see so called tech pundits revert to name calling and rumor starting in light of the iPad introduction, but it seems it’s their only line of defense against agreeing that Apple has trumped the industry once again and created yet another device that gives real users what they really want — the ability to browse the web comfortably, buy and read digital books using the best user interface to date, buy and listen to music in seconds, buy and watch movies or TV in seconds, download the latest apps, hang on Facebook, Twitter, or Buzz, and even create content for the web using the near-full size keyboard.

I’m definitely going to be sporting the iPad as I feel it not only enriches the web experience for mobile users, but also provides the best digital reader experience available … and that’s just the foam of the latte, don’t forget about the iPod, the app store, ibookstore, iTunes, photo library, calendar, email, contact book, and Google Maps!

Apple has been on the forefront of technological innovation since Steve and Steve created the first personal computer — and it’s inspiring that the company they started is still playing to that beat.

A wide spectrum of possibility, I know — and that’s the beauty in life that I think I’ll chase with this blog … the uncertainty of what comes next.
